Instantly Connect Restaurant Owners and Job Seekers

Innovative, user-friendly, restaurant staffing app launches in Burlington, VT ahead of summer travel season; available now on both iOS and Android devices

Vermont Business Magazine The Fliptable restaurant staffing app launched today, offering a free, contactless, digital hiring platform for restaurant owners and job seekers. With restaurants reopening to full capacity as COVID-19 restrictions ease, most are faced with daunting hiring challenges. That’s where Fliptable comes in, instantly finding and connecting job seekers with relevant, open positions at restaurants within their desired area, while restaurant owners and hiring managers are matched with the best candidates for the job.

Participating restaurants are also given the opportunity to further support contactless hiring by utilizing both a physical and digital custom Fliptable QR code that directs job seekers to open positions after scanning.

The Vermont-based company is launching the AI-based technology for both iPhone and Android users in Burlington, VT, a four-season tourist and culinary destination on the shores of Lake Champlain.

Nearly two dozen restaurants have more than 45 jobs available now on the app, with additional restaurants and job seekers joining daily.

“The restaurant industry faced tremendous challenges pre-COVID, and now the job market is fiercely competitive, with most restaurants struggling to find enough staff to keep their businesses operating efficiently,” said Kassandra Pike, CEO, and Founder of Fliptable. “Even before the pandemic, the turnover rate in the industry was more than 75%. Combine that with big-tech online recruitment tools that are simply overpriced, unreliable, and can’t deliver qualified candidates – and you have a recipe for frustration for restaurant owners and hiring managers and an unpleasant experience for job seekers. That’s why we created Fliptable. In seconds, restaurant hiring managers can easily post jobs and find the right candidate, while job seekers can begin identifying rewarding industry opportunities – all from your mobile device.”

How Fliptable Works for Job Seekers

Once users download the Fliptable app, job seekers are prompted to swipe right, while hiring managers will swipe left to get started. Job seekers enter profile information, upload a photo, and select a few basic criteria, such as work experience, interested position(s) and desired hourly wage. After their profile is set up, job seekers are directed to a dashboard where they can view followed businesses and swipe through open positions at restaurants in their area. Job seekers can also see which restaurants have ‘super liked’ and matched with them to instantly connect with hiring managers on next steps, when appropriate.

How Fliptable Works for Restaurant Owners/Hiring Managers

The in-app prompts guide restaurant owners and hiring managers through setting up an account, which includes entering business information, uploading an image of the establishment, and creating unlimited job listings for open positions. Once job listings are posted, hiring managers will be directed to a dashboard where they can swipe through interested and recommended candidates, ‘super like’ and match with job seekers, and contact applicants. To support contactless hiring, Fliptable also provides every participating restaurant with a physical and digital custom QR code, which directs job seekers to open positions after scanning.

“Fliptable is what the restaurant industry needed yesterday. Using this product to fill our back of the house and front of the house positions is what I’m really looking forward to,” said Chris, Manager of Mimmo’s Pizzeria in South Burlington. “Right now, Craigslist and ZipRecruiter are not good solutions for us in the food and beverage industry. We have needed something this specific for a long time and I’m excited to use it.”

Currently, 42 restaurant locations throughout the country have posted open positions on Fliptable, most of which are located in Vermont.

“Our beta testing in preparation for launch has been focused on building a community of restaurants in the greater Burlington, VT area, but since the app has been available, restaurants from throughout the country have signed up unsolicited and without any marketing or promotion,” continued Pike. “This is an early indication that the demand for Fliptable is strong nationwide.”

Job seekers can access all job postings for free and can apply to unlimited positions using Fliptable. For those looking to hire in the restaurant industry, Fliptable is free to use for 30 days and then requires restaurant owners to pay a flat monthly subscription of just $99 to continue posting an unlimited number of jobs and searching for qualified candidates. Fliptable offers a feature that allows hiring managers to “hide” their profile, which allows them to keep all business information within the app for free without deleting their entire account or starting over.

“Fliptable is a really unique restaurant staffing app,” said Melissa, Manager of Leunig’s Bistro in Burlington. “I like that I can post a job and find help immediately with Fliptable’s match feature and that I can hire within my geographic parameters. Craigslist is unreliable and I like that this is specific to the restaurant industry.”

“I like how easy it is to maneuver like a dating app but for restaurants,” said Kevin, Manager of the Friendly Toast in Burlington, VT.

Fliptable’s team consists of Vermont-based young entrepreneurs who all have close ties to the restaurant and hospitality industry and understand the industry’s pain points first-hand. To learn more, visit https://fliptable.io/about-us/
